Carrier WeatherMaster® 50GC Electric Cooling Rooftop Unit – Supplied & Professionally Installed by 4Most Energy

The WeatherMaster® 50GC is a single-package, all-electric rooftop unit built for buildings without gas service or pursuing electrification targets, sized 6.0 to 12.5 nominal tons. Two tandem scroll compressors deliver two-stage electric cooling on a Puron® (R-410A) refrigeration circuit rated up to 17.7 IEER and 12.4 EER, while the patented EcoBlue™ vane axial indoor fan system — direct-drive, electronically commutated, with 75% fewer moving parts than a belt-drive forward-curved fan — cuts fan energy up to 40% and eliminates belt, pulley, and bearing maintenance.

Where heat is required, factory- or field-installed electric resistance heater modules use nickel-chrome open-coil elements with integral overcurrent fusing (protected in circuits not exceeding 48 amps each) and automatic-reset thermal limit controls, with airflow ratings scaling from 1,800–3,000 CFM on the smallest size up to 3,750–6,250 CFM on the 12.5-ton unit. All 50GC units meet DOE 2023 minimum efficiency standards and ASHRAE 90.1/IECC requirements, and are AHRI 340/360 certified and UL listed.

Rated performance depends entirely on correct field installation. Electric heat rooftop units place a heavier draw on building electrical capacity than a comparable gas/electric unit, so Ontario installations require ESA-compliant sizing of the service, disconnect, and single-point power connection to the unit’s MCA/MOCP rating at 208-230/460/575V, 3-phase, along with proper thru-the-base electrical routing and heater circuit breaker coordination.

Roof curb selection (14 in. or 24 in.), structural load review, and field-convertible vertical-to-horizontal airflow configuration (factory kit required on size 14 only) round out the code-driven installation requirements that determine whether the unit’s rated IEER and heater capacity are actually delivered. 4Most Energy is a certified installer for rooftop unit installation Toronto, packaged RTU replacement GTA, and Carrier WeatherMaster 50GC installation Ontario projects, providing licensed gas technician near me-calibre electrical commissioning rigor and ENERGY STAR–calibre rooftop unit Toronto service standards on every job — so the IEER and heater performance figures on the nameplate are what the building actually gets.

The 50GC is sized first by cooling load (6.0–12.5 nominal tons) using a proper commercial load calculation  not by matching the tonnage of the unit being replaced, since older rooftop units on the same curb were frequently oversized by the standards of their era.

Where electric heat is required, the heater kW should be matched to the building’s actual heat loss calculation and the unit’s rated minimum-to-maximum airflow range for that size, and confirmed against available electrical service capacity before ordering electric heat draws considerably more current than an equivalent gas heat option and can require a service upgrade on older buildings. Sound-sensitive sites (schools, offices, mixed-use buildings with rooftop-adjacent occupied space) should weigh the 82–87 dBA outdoor sound ratings across sizes into curb placement and unit selection.

4Most Energy performs load calculation, electrical capacity verification, and roof structural review as part of every quote before ordering.

Step Title Description
Step 1 Site assessment existing unit and curb inspection, electrical service capacity check, and roof structural/access evaluation.
Step 2 Load calculation and unit sizing confirm correct tonnage, electric heater kW (if required), airflow configuration (vertical or horizontal), and control option (standard thermostat or SystemVuTM).
Step 3 Rigging and crane setup WeatherMaster’s lighter base-rail design and multi-point rigging shackles simplify crane placement onto the existing or new roof curb.
Step 4 Roof curb and structural prep install or verify 14 in./24 in. roof curb, full-perimeter seal, and structural support for the unit’s operating weight.
Step 5 Electrical connection ESA-compliant hookup to the building’s disconnect and, where equipped, single-point power kit, sized to the unit’s voltage, phase, and combined unit/heater MCA/MOCP rating, with thru-the-base electrical connections as specified.
Step 6 Ductwork tie-in supply and return duct connection matched to vertical or horizontal discharge, with turning vanes and sealed transitions.
Step 7 Commissioning refrigerant charge verification, heater circuit and thermal limit test (if equipped), airflow confirmation, and control system setup (thermostat or SystemVuTM/BAS integration), with warranty registration filed.
Step 8 Final walkthrough filter access, service clearances, and control operation demonstrated before the crew leaves site.

Carrier’s standard coverage on the WeatherMaster® 50GC is a 3-year limited parts warranty from the factory.

4Most Energy completes and files the required start-up documentation to keep warranty coverage valid. Routine maintenance is straightforward by design: the EcoBlueTM direct-drive fan requires no belts, pulleys, or shaft bearings to inspect or replace, and the tool-less filter door simplifies the most frequent service task. Carrier recommends annual inspection of heater element continuity and thermal limit controls where electric heat is installed, condenser coil cleaning, and condensate drain pan/trap inspection. 4Most Energy offers scheduled maintenance plans covering filter changes, heater circuit testing, refrigerant circuit checks, and control board diagnostics via the unit’s built-in LED status indicators.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 50GC is the right choice where gas service isn’t available at the building, where local code or a decarbonization/electrification policy requires all-electric equipment, or where the building’s electrical capacity comfortably supports resistance heat. 4Most Energy can help weigh operating cost and electrical service implications against the 48GC during the quote.

Often, yes, when electric heat is installed — resistance heaters draw considerably more current than an equivalent gas heat option, so 4Most Energy always verifies available service capacity and MCA/MOCP requirements before ordering, and flags any service upgrade needed.

In most cases the unit is designed to fit on legacy Carrier R-410A curbs and many competitor curbs without modification, though 4Most Energy always verifies curb dimensions, electrical connection points, and structural load before ordering.

A- weighted outdoor sound ranges from 82 dBA (sizes 07–09 and 14) to 87 dBA (size 12). For sound-sensitive locations, 4Most Energy can advise on curb placement, sizing alternatives, or accessory sound treatment during the quote.

Yes — the optional SystemVuTM controller provides built-in i-Vu®, BACnet, and Carrier Comfort Network (CCN) capability, or the unit can operate on a conventional thermostat with standalone controls.

We recently had a Navien Combi boiler installed by 4Most Energy and had a great experience from start to finish. Rey was our sales representative and Sam was our technician, and both were excellent to work with. They arrived on time, the installation was fast and efficient, and everyone was friendly and professional throughout the process. Sam did a great job with the installation, and everything is working perfectly. We’re also very happy with the Navien Combi boiler itself. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with the service, the installation, and the product. We would definitely recommend 4Most Energy.

I contacted 4Most Energy to replace my 14 year old AC unit. Their intake process was smooth. They provided a reasonable quote the same day. The installation of the new AC unit was scheduled and the service provided by Farzad and his associate was completed within a reasonable time. They did a great job on the installation, hauled away the old equipment, and left the job site (both indoors and outdoors) in good condition. I would not hesitate to recommend 4Most Energy for your heating and cooling needs.

From quote to install, great service and very professional. If you have questions, do not reach out to the person who finalized the sale because they will not respond - call the main number and escalate as needed.

Neat and tidy!! For the great installation job done this morning by Saeid (Sam) and Mo. All the cables and pipes were neatly secured with no mess left behind. Many thanks to this team, Jay and Rey from 4MostEnergy, who have kept me informed and offered a very competitive price for the Rinnai RX199. We will have no hesitation in using their services again.
