The 4Most Energy Edge: Why Professional Installation Matters
In Ontario’s demanding winter climate, your boiler is the heart of your home. A DIY or substandard installation of a feeder valve can lead to system dry-firing or, worse, cross-contamination of your drinking water.
- Certified Hydronic Experts: Our technicians ensure the pressure is calibrated specifically for your home’s vertical head and radiator requirements.
- Code Compliance: We ensure all backflow preventers meet local Ontario building codes and ASSE 1012 standards.
- Seamless Integration: We don't just "swap parts"; we inspect your entire expansion tank and air elimination system to ensure the new valve performs perfectly.
Warranty Highlight
Industry-Leading Protection: This unit comes with a 10 Year Manufacturer Warranty on the bronze body and internal components, plus the 4Most Energy 1-Year Labor Guarantee on all professional installations.
Features
- Dual-Function Design: Combines a high-capacity 1156F feed water regulator with a 9D backflow preventer for a compact, fail-safe solution.
- Rapid Fill Technology: Engineered to fill systems up to 50% faster than standard valves, significantly reducing labor time during maintenance or initial startup.
- Automatic Pressure Regulation: Maintains a constant system pressure, automatically adding "make-up" water if the system pressure drops below the set point.
- Anti-Siphon Protection: Prevents boiler water (containing chemicals or rust) from flowing back into your home's clean water supply if the street pressure drops.

- Annual Inspection: We recommend testing the backflow preventer annually to ensure the internal check valves are seating correctly.
- Strainer Cleaning: The integrated stainless steel strainer should be checked every 2 years to prevent debris from clogging the regulator seat.
- Replacement: If you notice water dripping from the vent of the backflow preventer, it is a sign of internal seal wear and requires immediate service.
- Standard Residential (1-3 Floors): The 1/2" unit is the standard for most Ontario detached homes and townhouses.
- Large Estates / Commercial: If your system requires a higher GPM flow rate for rapid purging of large-volume systems, consult with a 4Most Energy engineer about 3/4" high-flow alternatives.
- System Shutdown: We safely power down the boiler and isolate the water supply.
- Drain & Prep: Partial drainage of the feed line to ensure a dry, clean solder joint.
- Precision Mounting: Installation of the valve with the union end facing the supply for easy future maintenance.
- Pressure Calibration: We set the regulator to your specific system requirements (typically 12-15 PSI for a 2-story home).
- Leak & Flow Test: We verify the backflow preventer vents correctly under back-pressure and the regulator shuts off precisely at the set limit.

Frequently Asked Questions High-Capacity Boiler Auto Feeder & Backflow Preventer
Does a new boiler auto feeder come with a new boiler installation?
While a feeder valve is an external device, 4Most Energy always suggests replacing your existing boiler feeder when installing a new boiler. This ensures that an old, worn valve doesn't cause pressure issues or system failures in your new equipment. Your 4Most Energy boiler expert will include this as a recommended addition to your installation quote.
Why is my boiler valve dripping water from the middle section?
This is usually the backflow preventer doing its job. It vents water when it senses a pressure drop in the supply line to prevent contamination. If it drips constantly, the internal seals likely need replacement.
Can I adjust the pressure myself?
While possible via the top screw, we strongly recommend professional calibration. Incorrect pressure can lead to "water hammer," relief valve discharge, or inadequate heating on upper floors.
Does this valve work with Glycol/Antifreeze systems?
No. This valve is designed specifically for connecting to a cold water feed to pressurize your boiler and hydronic system with water. If your heating system uses glycol, you require a specialized glycol feeder. Please consult our boiler experts for more details on glycol system maintenance.
